Common letters

What these letters usually mean

CP2000

The IRS thinks income is missing from your return. You can agree or disagree, usually within 30 days.

CP14

The IRS says a balance is due. Check it before paying; penalties can sometimes be reduced.

California FTB notices

Letters from the Franchise Tax Board about returns, payments or estimated tax.
